Diane visiting vardon school

Dianne Rodgers came to Vardon School to talk to the senior syndicate about her experience as an   athlete in the Olympics and Commonwealth games. Dianne first started running at the age of 12 she has role models that she would love to meet such as Husain Bolt. Dianne had showed the senior syndicate some of her photos of her and and her friends running with her at the Olympic and Commonwealth games. She is very tall she was also very sporty. She came 4th place in her running in both commonwealth game events.  Dianne also showed the senior syndicate some of the clothes that she wore when she was running in. Leah was the model to wear Dianne's old running clothes. Dianne also comes to vardon School to teach the school some skills and energize games around tennis, hockey, soccer and lots of other sports and other games.

Book reveiw scorpion sting

SCORPION STING BY JUSTIN DATH

Sam is a very intelligent, smart and brave 14 year old boy. His brother Nathan is brave, smart and intelligent too. Nathan is older than Sam because Nathan is 21 years old . Sam and Nathan are in a desert. Sam and Nathan got trapped in a cave but the kangaroo's bones had covered Sam and left Nathan trapped in the cave. When Sam got out of the bones he saw an army of scorpions. Sam goes for help at the fuel station and asked a man for help. The themes for Scorpion Sting were to never give up and to persevere. This is clear when Sam never gives up when he is trying to find help. I liked how Sam was standing up for himself and also being brave. I disliked nothing because I liked the story. I recommend this book is for boys and girls because boys might like adventure stories and the girls might like adventure stories too. I think the age  of this book should be 7 to 20 because little kids could like it and adults or older people could like it too. Maybe you should have a look at this book in the Hamilton city library or your school library. I think you would like this book well guess what I love Scorpion Sting.

Art

In Room 12 we have been doing jandle art. These are all of the steps to create a jandle art.

Steps

  • First if you have a jandle or a sandle  you can trace over it on a piece of blank paper
  • Then you have to lightly draw the things that you want on your jandle but draw in pencil.
  • Then when you are finished that you can colour it in with jovey or colouring in pencils and you should also name them.
  • That's when you are finished your draft jandle and you are ready to trace again and then use a craft knife to cut it out on the cardboard
  • Then when you are finished cutting it out you have to paint it the same as your paper draft jandle.
  • Then you are finished your jandles.

Look for a photo soon.

My goals for the year

This year my goal is to work hard and get my work finished in time. I also have to stop talking to other people that distract me from working. My goal is to help other people when I'm finished my work and I don't have anything to do. My goal is to also be a amazing year 5 and listen to Miss Workman  and do what she told me to do. My goal is to not talk when the teachers talking or when she is sharing something.

Panda Report

My favourite fact about my animal report is that the Panda bear is a herbivore that means a plant eater and a carnivore is a meat eater and if a animal eats plants and meat that means it's a omnivore. There are all different kind of animals in the whole entire world. Aidan in room 8 has a report about a Tasmanian Devil. They have really sharp teeth. Adam and Nastazio has a report about the Rhino even Adam bought in some Rhino horns and some Rhino foot steps. But they are not real because the are just made out of white and brown clay but to me they look real. Jack and Caelan have a report about the king cobra snake. It's the longest snake in the world and it's enemy is a mongoose. Jayden H has a animal that's the king of the jungle yes it is the great big orange lion. !!!!!!!ROAR ROAR!!!!!!!

My Chinese Kite

My Chinese kite with my 3 wishes. My three wishes are:

Science- Planting Bean Seeds

This year room 8 has been doing some sience experiments about planting bean seeds to take home after they have  grown, but not fully grown. This is Nastazio holding his bean plant and he is putting some water in  his cup so his plant won't get dry. I'm going to tell you the steps for planting a bean plant.

1st step is you get a container or a planting pot or a plastic cup like room 8 has. Then put a wet  paper towel into the plastic cup and get your seed and place into your plastic cup.
2nd step is you take your bean seed out of the plastic cup and put some soil into the your plastic cup and make a finger hole in the soil and place the bean seed in the finger hole and cover the bean seed and then go to a tap and grab a sponge and soak it. Then squeaze the water into the plastic cup and put your plastic cup on the window sill in the sun. Then watch it grow!!

Term 3 Reflection Making The Taniwha

Last week room 8 started to draw taniwha's upside down. Mrs Hood told us to turn the white paper around. When room 8 finished the taniwha we all had to turn the paper the right way up  and when we all did  the picture looked like a taniwha that goes on the side front or the back of a Marae. Taniwhas's are brown  with oyster shells for their eyes. Most of the taniwha's around New Zealand  poke their tongues out and their eyes have to be really really big. Do you know what happens to a Taniwha to make it look like one? Well Taniwha's get carved with koru's, Maori pattern's and anything you want to carve on them. My brother Judah use to carve keys for a birthday gift. My brother always use to do that for me. He carved my mum a key and he carved my dad a Taniwha.
Here is a picture of my Taniwha.

The All Blacks Competition

On Wednesday Mac's mum emailed Mrs Hood for a competition about the ALL BLACKS. We were pretending to be at the Waikato stadium and dressed up in black and also had to paint our face with black face paint. Room8 went into the hall to take a photo shoot for the competition. Aidan and Baki were the ARGENTINIANS and there were three of each person in the photo. Georgia and I were eating the 2 hot dogs, Mac and Joseph were holding the big black Silver Fern ALL BLACK flag and Oisin.Nastazio and Susanna were doing the Mexican wave.
